What is a Medical Biller and Coder?

A medical biller and coder is responsible for translating healthcare services into standardized codes used for billing and insurance claims. They ensure that medical providers are reimbursed correctly by insurance companies and government programs. Medical coders assign diagnosis and procedure codes, while medical billers process claims, verify insurance information, and follow up on payments. This role sits at the intersection of healthcare and administration — making it one of the most in-demand and flexible careers in the industry.
